The Necklace

Francesca is the modern-day Carrie Bradshaw.  One could describe her as free-spirited, spunky, and perhaps a bit irresponsible. She is a New York City fashionista who constantly creates her style, but no matter what pattern she is wearing, she always has on her gold cornicello necklace. This is no ordinary necklace. Her family has passed down this jewelry piece for generations as an heirloom. The necklace even had its journey on a boat while immigrating with her late Grandma from Italy to America in the 50s. This gold cornicello necklace keeps her ancestors alive.  The necklace reminds her of cooking with her grandmother in the kitchen. The sweet smell of tomato sauce and onions sauteing in a pan. The necklace reminds her of when her grandmother would tuck her in at night. The necklace holds the memories and love of her grandmother.

Now as I said Francesca is the modern-day Carrie Bradshaw and we all know Carrie Bradshaw had a hectic schedule. You could find her running around New York in 4-inch heels attempting to catch the bus. Amidst all the commotion, Francesca misplaces jewelry and clothes because she is always walking with her boyfriend, dining at the trendiest restaurants, and indulging in one too many drinks with her three girlfriends.

The Lost Necklace

Francesca was having a Carrie Bradshaw moment when she showed up at an exclusive party in Manhattan. Socializing, cocktails, and of course dancing  filled this party. So Francesca danced the night away with New York’s coolest people. She didn’t notice her special necklace was gone until the next morning (after getting only 4 hours of sleep).

Francesca tore her room apart like a bull in a china shop. She called her friends to see if they picked it but no one had. Then, she contacted the party venue to inquire if the necklace was found during clean-up, but it was not. After that she even took it upon herself to hop on the subway and retrace her steps, but still nothing. Francesca felt hopeless. There was nothing else to do to try and find her necklace. Francesca felt like she had lost a piece of herself and a piece of her family heritage.

How The Lost Necklace Inspired a Business

Francesca is a family friend of mine. After hearing this story I felt for her. The emotional attachment one feels towards a piece of jewelry, especially when it’s a necklace that has been passed down for generations, is empathized with by me. Additionally, I know what it’s like to be a busy young adult who is not always aware of keeping track of jewelry and clothing.

I also know what it’s like to be young and busy and sometimes not always aware of the things I am wearing. So through hearing Francesca’s story, and similar stories, I was curious about how to solve the problem of finding lost jewelry. That is when my venture Worry Free Jewelry was born! It’s like Find my iPhone but for your jewelry! We don’t want you to ever lose your jewelry like Francesca, so come check out what we have to offer. Coming soon!
